My Favorite Homemade Pizza Sauce

We love homemade pizza and there are a few different kinds I make on an ongoing basis like Detroit pizza, tortilla pizza, and my regular thin crust pizza. The thing they all have in common is this pizza sauce. It has the perfect balance of flavor, saltiness and a hint of sweetness to go perfectly with melted cheese and any toppings you want to add.

My husband got a new grill this week that can heat to 700 degrees, so we are trying out making pizza in it on our pizza steel. My family wanted both a white sauce pizza and red sauce pizza, so I made my sauce. We are doing a red sauce pizza with pepperoni, sausage, roasted garlic, and mushroom and a white sauce pizza with wild mushrooms, bacon and roasted garlic, with some thin shaved parm over all of it.

This sauce could not be easier, and it doesn’t have a ton of ingredients, but it is the balance between them all that makes it so good. You just need some crushed canned tomatoes, garlic, olilve oil, red pepper flakes, oregano, garlic powder and onion powder, sugar and salt.

Next time you want to make homemade pizza, try this sauce!
