- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1/3 cup diced onion
- 2/3 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp yellow mustard
- 2 tbsp dill relish
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- fresh black pepper
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1 1/2 cup milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- frozen tater tots
Preheat the oven to 350 and grease a deep pie plate or a 9x13 pan. In a skillet over medium heat, heat a tbsp of oil oil. Add the onion and ground beef. Stir, breaking up the meat. Sprinkle the meat with the salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder.
Cook until the meat is full cooked, then add the ketchup, mustard, relish and Worcestershire sauce. Put this meat mixture into your baking dish.
Rinse the skillet and put it back over medium heat. Add the butter and allow it to melt. Whisk in the flour and cook for a minute. Slowly whisk in the milk to avoid lumps. Cook, whisking, until the sauce thickens. Remove from the heat and slowly mix in 1 1/2 cups of the shredded cheese and season the sauce with salt and pepper.
Pour this sauce over the meat mixture. Top this with the 1/2 cup shredded cheese you have left and then fully cover the top with frozen tater tots. Place into the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, until it is bubbly and the tater tots are nice and crispy on top. Cool 5 minutes before serving. Try not to eat 2 helpings. :)
