I absolutely love summer for many reasons, but one of them is the fruit! Summer fruit is delicious on its own, but it also makes so many good desserts. This weekend I picked up some delicious SC peaches from a stand near us, and my little dwarf cherry tree had ripe cherries (its first year producing fruit!) so I decided to combine them to make some peach sorbet with cherry chunks. I’ve mentioned before I love any excuse to use my ice cream maker. I have this one and I love it.
This recipe seriously couldn’t be easier. You don’t even have to peel the peaches. It took me 10 minutes total and that was with pitting some cherries.

Peach sorbet:
- 3 lbs very ripe peaches, washed but skin on, cut into large pieces
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup halved and pitted cherries (optional)
Place the sliced peaches, sugar and lime juice into a blender. Blend on high until well pureed. Strain through a fine mesh strainer to remove the skin. Put into an air right container and place plastic wrap directly on the surface, then close the lid. Put into fridge overnight. Churn in ice cream maker as directed. Fold in cherry pieces at the end. Store in the freezer. Yum!
