Time for another fun cocktail for your weekend. I have been wanting to try this one for a while, and finally found some creme de violette at the ABC. Before we moved to NC, I was used to being able to buy liquor anywhere. In NC we can only buy alcohol other than beer and wine from the state run stores, so sometimes it can be hard to find certain less common items. How does it work where you live?

This cocktail is mainly gin, with a little lemon juice, a smaller amount of maraschino liqueur, and the smallest component is the creme de violette. As you could guess from the name, creme de violette is made from an infusion of violet buds and blossoms and it has a distinctly floral flavor. It is great in small amounts, but not something you’d want to drink a lot of. In this drink, balanced by the other components, it is delicious.
I really enjoyed this one. Hope you will give it try!
