French 75 Cocktail

French 75 Cocktail

I have a hard time resisting a bottle of prosecco if I pass one in the store. There is something so festive and fun about a prosecco cocktail even if you are just drinking it on a random Saturday night. I made such an impulsive purchase yesterday at the grocery store so my Saturday cocktail this week is the french 75.

Prosecco is a sparkling white wine from Italy that is bright and aromatic and bubbly (or at least it can be). There is apparently also flat prosecco but I’ve never tried that. You can drink prosecco plain (which I often do to finish the bottle after using it in a cocktail). You can also use it as a wonderful addition to a cocktail. I absolutely loved the Rosé Blackberry Fizz I made a while ago with rosé prosecco.

The french 75 is a light and refreshing drink made with gin and cointreau, lime or lemon juice, a bit of sugar and prosecco. You can serve it in a champagne glass, martini glass, or a tumbler with ice and it works.
