Metropolitan Cocktail

I have seen various versions of a drink called a Metropolitan online that are completely different from this one, but this version comes from the Ultimate Bar Book, which has over 1000 cocktail recipes. I consult this little book often for inspiration and I like that it is broken down by alcohol type so I can use what I have around.

I made a slight variation on the drink as written. It calls for black current vodka, which I didn’t have. But I did have plain vodka and I also had creme de cassis, which is a black current liqueur. I combined those two in place of the vodka. The drink also calls for cranberry juice, and I subbed pomegranate juice because that is what I had around.

This was a strong, fruity drink. A bit sweet for my taste, but I don’t like my drinks sweet at all, so probably a good level of sweetness for your average drinker.
