Trato Hecho Cocktail

Our drink in the picture was a *slight* variation on the actual trato hecho cocktail which uses pineapple infused mezcal, which I really want to try but didn’t have time to make, so will do in the future.

We happened to have a little pineapple vodka around that we had made as an experiment by dissolving pineapple jolly ranchers in vodka (the tropical flavored jolly ranchers are SO good by the way). I know this is nothing close to actual pineapple infused mezcal but I was working with what I had 🙂 I also had a full bottle of tequila, so I used that. I love mezcal for it’s strong smoky flavor and that would have been delicious in this drink….so again, next time.

The other components of this are Chartreuse, maraschino liqueur and lime juice. I also added a pinch of salt. I really enjoyed the flavor of this drink and will definitely try making the legit version soon. I made this a day ahead and put in my freezer to get super cold and slushy 🙂
