I have so much mint growing in my little garden planters right now, so I wanted to use some up making mint juleps 🙂 The mint julep is a bourbon cocktail that could not be more simple, yet somehow is really delicious.
All you need to make these is some bourbon, some fresh mint, and some simple syrup. I still had some orange simple syrup left in my fridge, so I used that. To make simple syrup just mix equal parts sugar/water and boil until the sugar has dissolved, cool and store in an airtight container in your fridge. It is great not only for cocktails, but for sweetening any cold drink, since you don’t have to worry about trying to get the sugar to dissolve and mix in.

The process for this drink is super easy. Muddle the mint well with the syrup to release its oils, add the bourbon, stir and add ice. That’s it! So refreshing and delicious. Cheers!
