This week’s cocktail is another I haven’t had before. It is called the division bell, and it is a fruity combo of mezcal, Aperol, maraschino liqueur and lime juice. It was smoky and fruity and a great drink for a warm NC night on our deck. It felt more like summer than fall yesterday, and this drink was perfect for that.
If you haven’t had mezcal, it is an agave liquor (technically tequila is also mezcal). When you buy something labeled mezcal though it usually contains roasted agave so it has a smokier flavor than tequila but similar taste. Aperol is fruity and herbal and maraschino liqueur is fruity and sweet, so the overall drink is a nice combination of tastes. This drink should be ice cold and ideally served in a chilled glass. You can get these lovely coupe glasses on amazon (check my favorite items page).
