Mango Mezcal Margaritas

It was lovely out last night, and we drank these tasty frozen mango mezcal margaritas on our deck. These were exactly what I’m looking for in a margarita – not very sweet, strong, and with an interesting flavor. They have a touch of salt and pepper in them, which I know sounds a bit strange, but it really heightens the flavor of this drink and is a nice contrast to the mango’s sweetness.

You can make these with regular tequila if you don’t like mezcal and you an either use mango juice in these, or blend them with frozen mango chunks like I did to make a frozen drink. There will be less sugar if you do the frozen mango route, so you can add a bit of sugar or simple syrup to taste if you do that and want a sweeter drink. I did not add any extra sugar and loved it, but it was definitely more tart than sweet in my version. This recipe is easily scalable to make a large batch of these. I made 4 times the recipe.
