Espresso Martinis

I got an espresso machine for Mother’s Day which I love and ever since I have been wanting to make these. Martinis are one of my favorite cocktails, although I usually prefer the not very sweet variations. These were absolutely delicious though, and I didn’t mind that they were a bit sweeter than I would usually drink. Next time I make them, I plan to reduce the Kahlua a bit, but only little.

If you don’t want to make espresso to use in these, you can use strongly brewed coffee, or instant espresso, just make sure to brew and let it cool ahead of time. The original recipe for these called for simple syrup in addition to the Kahlua, which I did not add and I was so glad I didn’t. This was plenty sweet and did not need the extra sugar. I will include it in the recipe for anyone who loves super sweet drinks, or wants this more as a dessert cocktail though.

Use decent vodka here. It is a large component of the drink so you don’t want to use super cheap stuff. I used Ketel One. Also, if you can, chill your serving glasses. It made this extra enjoyable to drink it out of an icy glass.
