I made a batch of these super yummy cara cara orange mezcal margaritas last night. The mezcal adds a smokiness that enhances the smoky mezcal flavor and I love the bit of salt and paprika in them. Cara Cara oranges are fairly mild, so these have a fair amount of lime juice for tartness, and also a good bit of Grand Marnier for extra orange flavor.
You can multiply this recipe like I did. This jar is about 4x the recipe. We drank these with a super tasty Mexican torta dinner which I will be posting soon. These are great over ice, and I recommend chilling the mixture as well to keep it extra cold while drinking.

Cara Cara Mezcal Margaritas with Smoked Paprika
Ingredients
- 3 oz fresh squeezed cara cara orange juice
- 2 oz fresh lime juice
- 2 oz mezcal
- 1 oz Grand Marnier liquer
- 1/4 tsp kosher salt
- sprinkle smoked paprika to taste
Instructions
- Combine everything in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake well. Serve over ice.
Love a good mixed drink! I’m not a huge fan of spicy drinks though, so I may have to leave off the paprika, but it sounds refreshing.
Very refreshing. 😀. If you use mezcal it is plenty smoky so leaving off paprika won’t hurt 😀
Good to know!
