Nicholas Sage Cocktail

I’m not really a Nicholas Cage fan, but I did like this cocktail 🙂 It is a lightly sweet, fresh and herbal cocktail made with blanco tequila, lime juice, sage and benedictine (benedictine is an herbal and citrus liqueur). The fresh sage is a must for this, because it has such a clear, strong flavor.

The original recipe called for sage simple syrup, but I was feeling too lazy to make that, so I just muddled some fresh sage from my plant with the tequila and added honey instead of simple syrup which worked great and saved time. Sage is such a strong herb that a little muddling gave plenty of sage flavor to the drink.

I served this in chilled coupe glasses. If you make cocktails at home, I recommend these. They are inexpensive and it makes you feel like you went out a bar for your drink.
