The cherry old fashioned is a twist on a classic old fashioned using Heering cherry liqueur. We had a bottle of Heering I wanted to use, so this seemed like a great cocktail to make. It is a very simple mix of whiskey, Heering, and a touch of simple syrup. I had some orange syrup left from making candied orange peel, so I used that.
I know I’ve mentioned it before, but we love these Luxardo cherries. I should have included them in my post on stocking stuffers, because the are a great gift for anyone in your life who likes making or drinking cocktails. They are so much better than your average cocktail cherries. Cheers!
Cherry Old Fashioned
Rye, cherry liqueur, simple syrup
Ingredients
- 2 oz whiskey
- 3/4 oz cherry liqueur
- 1/4 oz simple syrup
- cherries for garnish
Instructions
- Combine ingredients in the cocktail shaker with ice and shake until cold. Pour into a chilled glass with an ice cube if you like and garnish with cherries.
