This vanilla chai old fashioned is a twist on a traditional old fashioned, using the flavors of chai and sweetened with orange syrup. I used pukka vanilla chai tea to flavor the bourbon for this. This is super easy to do. Just throw a few tea bags into some bourbon and let it sit for a few hours 🙂

I used orange syrup I had from making candied orange peel in this, but you could use regular simple syrup instead if you don’t want to make that. A bit of lemon juice gives a nice complimentary citrus note to the drink. I also added a star anise pod to my bourbon while it was steeping for a little extra flavor.
