As I have mentioned before, I gave my husband a bottle of italicus, which is a bergamot flavored liqueur a while back. It isn’t a liqueur that pops up often in recipes so I went looking for a good sounding drink to make with it.
The negroni bianco bergamotto has just 3 ingredients, but there are in perfect balance and I loved the freshness of this drink. It has equal parts gin, extra dry vermouth and italicus. Bergamot has a citrus forward flavor, and I used a gin from VA (Tinkerman’s Citrus Supreme) that is also very citrus forward. Italicus is lightly sweet and the combo of the three was delicious.
This drink is served over ice and the recipe suggested an olive garnish, but after tasting the drink the olive just didn’t seem to fit for me, so I used a lemon wedge. This was a refreshing and not too sweet cocktail. I’d love to make these again on a warm summer evening.
Negroni Bianco Bergamotto
- 1 oz italicus liqueur
- 1 oz gin
- 1 oz extra dry vermouth
- Combine the 3 liquors well and serve over ice with a lemon garnish.
