Lemon Chicken Wraps with Garlic Tahini Sauce

We have been really busy with end of school stuff here. My oldest is home from college and my middle son just graduated high school and my youngest is moving up from middle to high, so I haven’t had much time to take pics and write recipes…. but hopefully back to it now.

I have been making this lemon chicken wrap for years and we still really enjoy it. I sometimes serve it with homemade pita style bread as the wrap, but this time I used the raw, cook at home tortillas that we love. The chicken in these has great lemon/herb flavor and is delicious, but the sauce is what really makes these stand out.

The sauce is a mixture of mayo/sour cream with garlic, lemon, tahini, salt and pepper, and sriracha. It sounds simple but it is SO delicious. There is something about the particular combo of lemon, tahini and garlic that is perfect together.

I marinate the chicken the day before for these, but if you use store wraps or tortillas they come together really quickly. The crunchy fresh lettuce, red onion and tomato are a must in these too!

Ingredients

For the chicken:

  • 1 package boneless, skinless chicken breasts roughly 2 lbs
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • oil for pan frying

For the sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp tahini more to taste
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • sriracha to taste
  • 2 tsp lemon juice to taste

For the wraps:

  • 6 tortillas, flatbread or wrap of your choice
  • fresh lettuce leaves
  • thinly sliced red onion
  • sliced tomatoes

Instructions

For the chicken:

  • Combine the marinade ingredients in a ziploc bag. Cube the chicken and mix well with marinade and place in the fridge overnight.
  • When ready to cook, heat a little oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook until it is golden brown and cooked through, stirring occasionally but letting it brown on one side before stirring, about 6-10 minutes.

For the sauce:

  • Combine the ingredients and mix well. Taste and adjust seasoning to your liking.

To serve:

  • If using raw tortillas, cook according to package. Fill your wrap with some of the sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion and add some chicken. Wrap up and cut in half or serve like a taco if using pita or thicker wraps. Serve with extra sauce on the side, believe me you will want more. 🙂
