
This drink is another recipe we had over the holidays that was a big hit. Yuzu and lychee are two of my favorite fruit flavors and this drink combines them into a delicious sparkling lemonade or a sparkling cocktail. If you haven’t had yuzu or lychee before, yuzu is citrus fruit with a tart, strong, very citrusy flavor that works really well in sauces, drinks and desserts. Lychee is a sweeter, more mild fruit flavor that is unique and so delicious. They work really well together too.
There are a few options to make this recipe and it is super flexible. To make a non-alcoholic version you can use sparkling water, and to make a cocktail version you can use prosecco, champagne or vodka/sparkling water. We had both version and both were really good.
For the yuzu, I recommend this yuzu mixer you can buy on amazon. It is $25 for two bottles, but each bottle has 24 servings because it a concentrate, so you can make so many drinks with it. You can mix this with any sparkling water for a yummy yuzu soda, use in cocktails or use in sauces and desserts. Making a dessert with it is on my to do list right now.
For the lychee portion, Asian and Indian markets often sell lychee juice, but if you can’t find that, you can buy canned lychees in syrup, which a lot of regular markets carry in the canned international section. I used those for this recipe. This drink is unique and so packed with delicious flavor. It is one you won’t regret making.

Sparkling Lychee Yuzu Lemonade (and Cocktail Version)
Ingredients
For the drink:
- 4 oz lychee lemonade or 4 oz lychee juice plus 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 oz yuzu syrup more or less to your taste, I used a bit more
- 4 oz prosecco or sparkling water or 2 oz vodka
For the lychee lemonade:
- 2 15oz cans lychee in syrup
- 3 lemons
- 1/2 cup sugar optional, the lychee syrup is sweet as is, so I didn't add additional sugar here
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- If using lychee juice, skip this part. Juice the lemons through a strainer to remove seeds and combine lemon juice with lychees and syrup (and sugar if using) and water in a small blender cup and blend well. Strain through a strainer to remove the pulp and into a clean pitcher.
- Pour the 4 oz of lychee lemonade into a glass and add the yuzu concentrate and some ice. Mix well and top with sparkling water or prosecco.
